Sometimes it rains . . . and sometimes it rains alot.

Rain and More Rain

This morning we woke to the sound of rushing wind and rain battering the side of the campervan. We’re staying with some friends on their land near the entrance of New Zealand’s smallest National Park,  Abel Tasman National Park.

We had planned on spending the day walking in the southern part of the park, between Marahau and Anchorage, but we’ve decided to take rain check.  We’re in the area for another couple of days and neither of us really likes walking in a torrential downpour.  And a downpour it is.

So, what to do with the day?

Undoubtedly there will be many cups of tea being drunk, as well as several chapters of books being read. But, it’s always good to have a few games on hand to keep oneself occupied in the event of inclement weather.

In our little ‘bag of campervan goodies’  we keep a few things we think are crucial to a good road trip. They are:

  • One deck of cards
  • Checkers & Checkerboard
  • Chess Set
  • Monopoly Game

We bought these in their miniature versions to ensure they didn’t take up too much storage space, but even the full sized versions would be welcome on a day like today!

So, even though the weather might not be cooperating, you can still keep yourselves happily occupied for a couple of days . . . and know the weather will (probably) be better tomorrow.

Happy campervaning!
